Viper/Spider Bite

The viper bite piercing, also known as the "spider bite" piercing, is a relatively new type of body piercing. Although it's hard to pinpoint an exact, concrete origin, it's believed to have emerged sometime in the late 1990s.

The viper piercing now exists as a popular, stylish, and not-too-shocking body piercing. The viper piercing consists of two symmetrical piercings located on the lower lip. It is often done in one sitting, but may take multiple visits depending on the individual's comfort level with the procedure.

The most common way to wear a viper lip piercing is with small barbells or rings, which can be customized with various colours and designs. Some people may opt for longer barbells or studs for a more dramatic look.

No matter how you wear your viper lip piercing, you can be sure you're making a statement!

Viper Piercing Aftercare

Aftercare When following Black Line Studio’s after care protocol, the healing time for a viper / spider bite piercing is typically 4 to 6 months.

Lip-piercing viper bites can be slow to heal. The mouth harbours quite a bit of bacteria, which means you should go out of your way to ensure you're keeping it clean. It would help if you used a sterile salt solution to clean each piercing twice daily.

During the healing process, avoiding harsh toothpaste and mouthwash is essential because these products will cause irritation and possible soreness around the location and directly inside your fresh piercing. Stay as hydrated as possible, as hydration can keep harmful mouth bacteria from building up, and keep your piercing clean.

If you rest, ice, clean, and elevate (sleep with added pillows under your head to keep the swelling down), your piercing should heal without issue in the minimal time frame given by your piercer. Everyone is different, but proper care will ensure proper healing.

Viper Piercing FAQ

Viper bite, or snake bite, piercings are double lip piercings placed near the corners of the lower lip on each side of the mouth. The placement of the piercings resembles a snake bite, which is how this particular piercing style gets its name.

You can put hoops or barbells in your viper bite piercing, using whatever jewelry you prefer. Your piercer will be able to point you in the best direction for choosing jewelry, depending on what you like and your lifestyle. While viper bite piercings aren't always easy to heal, they look unique and stylish when done!

People get viper bite piercings because they genuinely like them and find them complementary to their look and style. Most body piercings don't have significant meanings, unlike tattoos, so people tend to get body piercings because they'll look fantastic!

Of course, there could always be a potential personal reason for someone to get a body piercing. Generally, it's entirely up to our clients regarding what they want to do with their bodies. Piercings are a fun way to show self-expression, and viper bites are no exception to that rule.

Of course, you can eat, but you'll have to be careful regarding your food selections. After getting a viper piercing, eating soft, cold foods is recommended to help reduce swelling and soothe the piercing sites.

While healing, avoid spicy foods as much as possible, as they can cause the wound to re-open. Also, sticky foods are a no, as they'll quickly become stuck around your piercing and in your jewelry. If you plan on getting a viper piercing, you should also plan what your diet will look like in the following days and weeks.
