Since 1976, the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) has annually showcased some of the most celebrated movies to grace the silver screen. Some of the biggest names in Hollywood have visited Toronto in support of these films.

The 2016 TIFF is running from September 8th to the 18th. This year’s films have a few actors who have visited a tattoo parlour in toronto at least once in their lives.

Here’s a quick list of a few that we have spotted – and the stories behind them are both sweet and sentimental:

Emma Stone, who stars in La La Land as aspiring actress Mia, has a set of bird footprints tattooed on her wrist. It honours her mother’s triumph over breast cancer and represents Mama Stone’s favourite song “Blackbird” by Paul McCartney. Stone even got the musician to design the tattoo himself!

Ewan MacGregor will be making his directing debut and also starring in American Pastoral. The actor has never been shy about the sleeve tattoo he has depicting a dagger through a heart. The piece honours his wife and children whose names are scrawled around the design.

Kristen Stewart, who will appear in Certain Women, is slowly racking up a collection of tattoos. Her most recent addition is a script tattoo reading, “One more time with feeling.”

Stewart explained the meaning behind it in an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon saying, “[…] it’s a classic thing directors say to actors. But then, in addition to that...you can always try again with anything you do."

Taraji P. Henson of Empire fame will be starring in the film Hidden Figures this season. Henson has a few tattoos including a lower back piece featuring wings. Her latest tattoo is a simple script that says, “The Truth.”

Jeremy Renner is set to appear in the sci-fi epic Arrival alongside Amy Adams. Renner has only one tattoo that we know of, and it is believed to be a depiction of the Renner family crest.
